This is a really luxurious blue silk velvet dress from the 1930's. The dress has its original fabric belt and pretty flutter sleeves. The shade of blue is exceptional and the dress hangs beautifully! There used to be side snaps but someone has sewn the seam shut there - it could easily be opened again and replaced with snaps. The dress is in good condition but does have some issues, which is reflected in the price. We would put it on 1stdibs for over $1000 if it were in excellent condition because these dresses are literally disappearing and are so much harder to find than they used to be!  There are some rubs and marks to the velvet, the underarm needs a repair, as shown in photograph and there has been a repair to the right shoulder, as shown in photo. But the dress is definitely wearable as is and is so lovely we just had to put it on our site! 

This dress would fit a modern day size 8/10 comfortably.
